Question: How do I make my wiki guest accessible?

Answer:

By default, access to JotSpot accounts require an user name and password. It is possible to make your entire JotSpot wiki readable by anyone (without having to log in). Here are the instructions. If you want to make specific pages Guest Accessible, see Jot Permissions Overview.

Version 2.7

Beginning with version 2.7, we made a change with our default account permissions. For Personal (free) accounts, Guest Access needs to be enabled by JotSpot. We made this change as a means to fight spammers who were using Jot accounts as spam farms.

If you would like your account to offer Public access, no user name / password required, please send an email to support at jot dot com and we will make the switch for you.

Version 2.6

  1. Select "Site Permissions" from the "Administration" section in the footer of every page.
  2. This will take you to the /System/WebspaceConfig page.
  3. Edit the page and enable each permission you want for "Public":
    • Read pages
    • Edit pages
    • Create pages
    • Attach files
  4. Save the page.

Version 2.5

  1. Select "Site Permissions" from the "Administration" section in the footer of every page.
  2. This will take you to the /System/WebspaceConfig page.
  3. Edit the page and enable each permission you want for "Guest":
    • Read pages
    • Edit pages
    • Create pages
    • Attach files
  4. Save the page.

Version 2.3 and earlier

  1. Select "Other Global Settings" from the "More Actions..." menu.
  2. At the top of the page are options to set the wiki-wide privileges for "guest" users.
  3. Edit the page and enable each permission you want:
    • Read pages
    • Edit pages
    • Create pages
    • Attach files
  4. Save the page.

NOTE: If you want to make your wiki guest-accessible but want to make specific pages private, see PublicPrivateSettingsHelp.
