Question: How do I add a new user account?
Answer:
Add users
JotSpot administrators and other designated users can add new users and set permissions.
1. Click Users and Groups in the Administration links displayed below the page content:
2. Enter the name the new user will use to log in (in this case, fred_flintstone). Entering a user name in lower case will yield the best results when working with JotSpot:
Note: The name specified here must be entered during log-in by the user. If you are the Administrator, you may want to ask them which user name they would like.
3. Enter the user's name and an initial password on the Creating User page and click Save when you're done:
Note: You may enter any name you like here. This is for purposes of identification on the wiki. The password field (including an entry that duplicates the password for verification) will be used at log-in time with the user name. All other fields are optional.
Either the administrator or the user can change these preferences at any time.
When you create a new user, the wiki page that contains the user information is displayed in view mode. You can return to the Admin page by clicking the breadcrumb link at the top of the page:
The user fred_flintstone has now been added as a full-fledged, registered user of this wiki:
4. Notify the user that they can now access your wiki and provide them with their user name and initial password. We recommend you email the page representing the account to the user.
Instead of directly adding new users, you can also invite users to join the wiki.
The Administrator of a wiki always has authority to add new users. You are the Administrator of any wiki you have created in JotSpot.
If you are a registered user of a wiki, an Administrator may give you permission to add new users. This is done the same way that any page permission to create new subpages is added. Each new user added generates a subpage from the _Admin page path.
