Overview of page permissions
Topic: decide who may perform various actions on a selected page and its subpages (pages created from it).
1. Click Shared Change Permissions in the upper right hand corner of the page:
2. Click Set custom permissions for this page. To change permissions for your entire JotSpot wiki, edit Site Permissions.
3. There are four (4) options of custom permissions:
4. Select specific registered users you want to have privileges.
5. Click Use advanced permissions. For most cases, JotSpot recommends using Default or Custom permissions, not Advanced permissions. In this example, we set Owner permission of WikiHome to Admin. This means other users cannot change the permissions of WikiHome; therefore, the "Shared Change Permissions" button does not appear on the WikiHome page.
1. Click Page Permissions from the Advanced lists of the More actions menu:
2. The Page Permissions page offers explanations of all actions you may perform. We will not repeat them here. This is a partial view of that page:
The User and Group chooser list is available by clicking Choices on the page. You are not required to use it if you already know the names of your users, but it is convenient and eliminates errors:
Permissions for a given user of your wiki to perform (allow) various actions are attached to each wiki page.
Permissions are assigned either to individual users or to users who are members of a group.
Users who access your wiki are always divided into 'guests' and 'registered users'. A guest is a user who has never been assigned a user profile or someone who has a profile but is not currently logged in. You can decide whether all, some or none of your wiki will be made available to guests.
Permissions to perform various activities are always assigned relative to the current page and its subpages (pages created from it).
