Install applications
Topic: Integrate applications from the JotSpot Application Gallery to your wiki.
Note: at this time, only Administrators have the privilege assigned to install and manage application packages. This page will help Administrators install packages and provide helpful knowledge for all users. Ask your Administrator to install an application you need for your work.
How To Do It:
1. The default JotSpot toolbar at the right of your workarea will list any currently installed applications from the Gallery:
2. Click Browse Application Gallery to inspect the range of applications currently available (more are being added steadily):
3. As an example, we will install the Blog Application, by browsing to it on the Application Gallery page. Click Install Now:
4. Confirm the installation by clicking Yes, install package:
5. Depending on the application, you will be introducted to a start-up page suitable to the application that was installed:
6. The Installed Applications list now shows the new application:
7. Click Manage Packages to inspect and maintain the applications currently integrated to your wiki:
Note: we will not describe package management in detail here. An administrator may browse, sort and remove applications conveniently.
Tell Me More:
JotSpot makes both system-wide application packages (for instance, Group Management) as well as user applications visible for inspection and enhancement to Administrators and developers. A 'package' refers to a set of pages bundled together to achieve a specific application task. For example, the ContactsApp bundles together a set of pages (contacts you create) that share the same forms and JotScript tags.
Modifying system applications should only be attempted rarely (if ever), since changes may make the entire environment unstable or inoperable.
It is not possible at this time to install an application more than once to the same wiki. Some applications (like the Blog Application) support the creation of multiple instances (blogs). Others (like the Event Calendar) do not.
