Managing user settings globally
Topic: set a variety of wiki-wide policies for granting rights to groups of users.
Note: we cover changes to the Current Theme here. All other settings are described on this page below.
1. Click Global Settings from JotSpot Actions in the More actions menu:
2. The Global Settings page offers a variety of different settings. It is a viewable JotSpot system page (titled WebspaceConfig).
Click Edit Page to modify settings unless a specific button is already displayed for a given section (for instance, Change Settings below for public/private wiki settings):
3. Click Change Settings in the Public/Private Wiki Settings section to make your wiki accessible to guests (by default, all Guest user privileges are set to "No". This wiki had already opened its pages for reading by guests):
You can toggle the displayed setting between Registered Users Only and Guest Users (the Add Users page gives more information about how Registered Users are created:
4. Click Change Settings in the Who can create new accounts? section to determine who may Register Users:
By default, only the Administrator can register new users:
You can allow everyone to do this by making the field blank, or choose additional users for this privilege:
5. Click Edit Page to modify the setting for Allow only SSL connections:
You can toggle this setting between False (the default) and True:
Note: Most likely, this setting will be determined by a corporate or departmental policy. If you are not sure about making a change, leave the default setting.
6. Click Edit Page to modify the setting for Secret authentication tokens for incoming email:
You can change the authentication code to anything you choose as the on-screen instructions suggest. JotSpot assigns a default setting when your wiki is first created; we have modified it:
7. Click Edit Page to change the setting for Trusted Wikis:
In this case, we added an asterisk (*) as explained in the on-screen instructions. This means that Registered Users from all other JotSpot wikis will be treated as though they are also Registered Users of this wiki. More often, you might list the names of specific wikis to which you want to grant this privilege):
