Change your preferences
Topic: inspect and change your user profile.
1. Click the Preferences link at the bottom right of your JotSpot page work area:
2. Jotspot displays your user profile:
Note: When you first join a wiki, this will show the preferences that were set for you by your Administrator. You can change your own settings later at any time.
A description of the preferences follows:
| Full Name: | Your user name. This will appear on pages you have created or edited. |
| Password: | This contains your password in encrypted form. |
| Verify Password: | This ensures that your password was entered correctly above. |
| Email Address: | Mail sent from the wiki will go to this address. |
| Address (for Maps) | This serves as a centering guide for your map requests. |
| Default Edit Style: | WYSIWYG, Script Markup or XML. |
| Double-Click page to edit? | When 'On', double-clicking in a page text area launches your editor. |
| Keyboard Shortcuts: | When 'On', you can use a set of JotSpot-supplied keyboard shortcuts. |
| Time Zone: | A user-selectable pull-down list of world timezones. |
| Toolbar: | Either the system toolbar (to the right of your work area) or a custom toolbar of your making. |
| Edit Textarea Size: | Enter the size in pixels of the area within which you want to enter text. |
| IM Type: | Your preferred IM provider (Yahoo, AIM, ICQ) |
| IM name: | Your IM user name for your preferred IM provider above. |
Note: Most of the descriptions probably don't require more explanation. Feel free to experiment with them.
Your personal profile is just another wiki page. It can be edited by you (or your administrator) at any time.
The 'Toolbar' preference in the table above refers to the panel which displays by default to the right of your JotSpot work area. JotSpot allows you or developers who support your work to install a Custom Toolbar in place of the System Toolbar.
This is a typical System Toolbar. Yours may look somewhat different than this one:
3. Your preferences profile is a wiki page and can be edited like any other page. Click Edit Page to do so:
Note: This preferences page above was changed to set Double-Click page to edit to 'On'; the Toolbar to 'Custom Toolbar' and Edit Textarea Size to 55. Clicking Save puts the changes into effect.
