Bug ID#: Bug428

Summary (short description): Created new user, limited permissions, now fails access
OS: Apple OSX
Browser: FireFox
Bug Description:

I created my first user in addition to the Admin, under my name. It was a test to see how the restrictions on Admin access worked. After creating the user I went to the _Admin page and selected page permissions from the "more actions..." pulldown, and made "admin" the only one to have access to the _Admin page - as described in your KB.

I logged out, and attempted to login under the new user name with the password that I created. I got the following jumbled screen in the browser:

UnknownError?

Revision 0
Error: UserNotFound?

Additional information: joseph

Error code: d3b47d0720a45176409b5f6bb49f9da4a835de72

User: joseph Preferences? | Logout
Wiki: Index | Recent changes | Help

This included a couple of non-working graphic buttons, including "Create Page."

I will quit (to clear cache, etc.) and retry the new "Joseph" user login. That failed. There seems to be no way to login as "Joseph"

ONLY SOLUTION: Logged in as the admin user, I deleted the word "admin" from the permissions boxes, saved, logged out, and then WAS able to login as Joseph, with unrestricted ability to change admin and preference info.

Steps to Reproduce: Create new user, go to _admin page & "pager permissions" in pull-down, type "admin" in all open fields in upper set of permissions listed, log out, attempt to log back in as new user.

Joseph,
I had the same problem but had not found the solution. removing admin permission in the accounts page does fix the access problem. Thank's.

Hi.

I am sorry I confused things with my Knowledge Base article.  This feature will be enabled once all accounts have been upgraded to our latest release (approx. 1 week).  Until then, it is not possible to restrict read access to _Admin because all users need the ability to read _Admin to login.

Please let me know if I should provide any additional details.

Sincerely, Jim
